Music Groups Put on Vesper Program

Laurelbrook’s 2019 Sabbath Vespers program began about 7:30 p.m. in the academy auditorium. Wesley Bradford announced that this program was to be a time to worship and sing or play instruments.  The program began with Wesley Bradford leading a song service of favorite hymns. The orchestra and Jeremy Westcott (on the piano) accompanied the song service.

The Laurelbrook Orchestra under the direction of Wesley Bradford played six numbers:

  • “I Sing the Mighty Power of God”
  • “Spirit of the Living God”
  • “Fairest Lord Jesus” (the audience sang several verses while the orchestra played the accompaniment)
  • “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God”
  • “Abide With Me” (the audience sang three verses while the orchestra played the accompaniment)
  • “I Surrender All”

,

Maria and Leilani (juniors) and Samantha (former Laurelbrook junior) sang “In Christ Alone”.

The Laurelbrook Choir under the direction of Lisha Westcott then sang several numbers. For some of the numbers, Jeremy Westcott accompanied the group on the piano or organ.

  • “Psalm 34”
  • “In the Garden”
  • “Nearer, My God, to Me” (Jeremy Westcott accompanied the group on the organ)
  • “Psalm 63”  (Lisha Westcott wrote the music for this psalm – pre-recorded accompaniment)
  • “Knowing You, Jesus” (this song sung by the choir girls)

At Wesley Bradford’s request, the entire choir returned to sing “Amazing Grace”.  Pedro Arce, the first semester choir director, was the director of this number, accompanied by Samantha on the piano.

Wesley Bradford closed the service with prayer.

Afterwards the year-end video was shown.
