Following are some notes from the sermon:
- We need a guide in our daily lives as well as the future. Some people use astrology, fortune telling, and technology to guide them.
- Psalm 32:8 “I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye.”
- [Eldric was blindfolded and guided up on the stage
- Prayer is essential; it like talking directly to about our lives.
- James 4:8 “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse [your] hands, [ye] sinners; and purify [your] hearts, [ye] double minded.”
- God often answers us through the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16 “All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:”
- Hearing correction is often what people don’t want.
- Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
- This is similar to a surgeon’s work.
- A hurtful truth is worth hearing when it comes from a loving heart. Jesus never kept silent when He detected wrong in a person’s live.
- So study the Bible when you have a decision to make.
- God guides us through His Spirit.
- Put away anything that doesn’t sound like God. Listen to God’s voice alone.
- God speaks to us through His providence, the arrangement of event to give us a message.
- Where God guides, He provides.
