The Laurelbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church service on April 14, 2018 began with Ginny Arce having the Ministry Corner. She talked about stress, something that affects everyone, especially those trying to serve God. Acne, stomach cramps, headaches, muscle tension, depression show that the body is shutting down from the stress. Ellen White talked about an elder who was enduring constant illness. She said that he didn’t do something about it he would die. Take stress and give it to God. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and don’t trust in your own understanding.
Ricardo Reid welcomed everyone and made a few announcements. Lunch will be in the academy cafeteria – everyone is invited. Vespers tonight will be at 7:00 this evening. Pastor Cox will not be around for about two months so someone else will be taking prayer meeting. Rich Sutton made two additional announcements during the service – next Sabbath will be communion, and a conference stewardship representative will be here next Sabbath.
Samantha (sophomore) played an introit. The congregation had a silent invocation and then sang “I Sing the Mighty Power of God”. Rich Sutton had the main prayer; the congregation responded with “Hear Our Prayer, O Lord”.
Elyjah (junior) then called for the offering. Eric (junior) and Hiram (junior) then collected the morning offerings; the loose offering went to the world budget. The congregation sang the doxology, and Elyjah prayed for the offering.
Abril and Jissel (sophomores) told the children a story about sharing. Dyaine (senior) then read John 1:1-4 “1 ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”
Moises (sophomore) and Benny (9th grader) played an instrumental duet, accompanied by Jeremy Westcott on the piano. Rich Sutton discussed the topic “Power of God”. The congregation sang “Higher Ground”. Rich Sutton had the closing prayer.
