On September 7, 2019, Laurelbrook’s church services began with a Sabbath School song service led by Yzzynne (sophomore), accompanied on the piano by Yzzynne’s mother for part of the song service. The last part of the song service, Yzzynne and her mother led the song service, accompanied by Leilani (senior) on the piano. The opening song was “I Vow to Thee, My Country”.

Denisse (sophomore) welcomed everyone.  Maria (senior) had prayer and read the scripture reading – Proverbs 33:

Esther Chun then read a mission story about a young man who stole cars and was into drugs.  Then he was invited one Wednesday evening to an exercise routine and Bible study. He accepted the Lord and married his long-time sweetheart.  Today he has his own handyman business.

She called for the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which was collected by Say Say (freshman). Eiddelyn (sophomore) and Leilani sang a vocal duet for special music, accompanied by Eiddelyn on the banjo.

Daphne (senior) had the theme talk on “My Heart Is for You” and announced the classes.  Clayton Brandt taught the adult Sabbath School class in the main sanctuary, Stephanie Roy-Lavallee the student class outside the church under a big tree. The boys were at the Laurelbrook Lodge having their Purity Weekend (the girls had their weekend last week).’

Notes from Daphne’s talk:

  1. Jesus can take our hearts and change them completely if we give our hearts to Him.
  2. What is blocking you from surrendering your heart?
  3. Psalm 119:9 “Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed [thereto] according to thy word.”
  4. Reading the Word and prayer helps Jesus take our hearts.
