On Sabbath, December 28, 2019, Laurelbrook’s Sabbath services began with a song service led by Kelly (sophomore) and Daphne (senior), accompanied on the piano by Felix (senior).  The opening song was “Faith is the Victory”.

Itzel (junior) welcomed everyone, Daphne (senior) had prayer, and Lindsay (junior) read the scripture reading.

Leilani (senior) told the Sabbath School members present about a man who had to lose one leg. A neighbor had wanted to be introduced to the gospel.  The man explained the gospel to him – and to many others, too. He did more with one legs than with two.

The Laurelbrook Missions Offering was collected by Heisier and Jafat (sophomores). Essence (freshman) sang a vocal solo for special music. Heissel (senior) had the theme talk on the armor of God and had the closing prayer. The congregation divided into two Sabbath School classes, a class in the main church sanctuary taught by Clifton Brandt  and a student class “behind the glass” taught by Sorina Voicu.

Following are some notes on the theme talk:

  1. Ephesians 6:13 “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
  2. This includes the breastplate of righteousness. But all parts of the armour.
  3. Jesus wants us to wear the belt of truth and keep it wrapped around us.
  4. The shield of faith bears the name of Jesus. We must accept the help of God.
  5. Isaiah 52:7 “How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!”
  6. The helmet of salvation protects us against wrong choices in eating, listening, and other avenues to the soul.
  7. The sword is an offensive weapon.
  8. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”
  9. We can have an attitude of prayer all day long.
  10. Ephesians 6:10-11 “10 ¶ Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.”
  11. Problems come but we can be strong in the Lord.
