On Sabbath, February 15, 2020, Laurelbrook’s Sabbath services began with a song service led by Nadine and Ceria (freshmen), accompanied on the piano by Daniel (sophomore). The opening song was “Faith Is the Victory .”

Vincent (freshmen) welcomed everyone. Cierra had prayer and read the scripture reading. Naythan (freshman) read a mission story about a young man who had a struggle with keeping the Sabbath. Wilmer and Jeshua (freshmen) collected the Laurelbrook Missions Offering.  The freshman class sang for special music.

Daniel (sophomore) had the theme talk on faith. Daniel had the closing prayer. The congregation divided into three Sabbath School classes – a class in the main church sanctuary taught by Clifton Brandt, a student class taught by Oriel Gudge in the boys’ dorm lobby, and a student class taught by Sorino Voicu “behind the glass” at the back of the church sanctuary.

Some notes on the talk:

  1. Hebrews 11:1 “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
  2. Abraham had faith that God would solve the problem of a child so that His promises of many future descendants could be fulfilled.
  3. Luke 17:6 “And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.”
