Sabbath School on August 17, 2019 began with a song service led by Ernesto (senior) and Giustavo (junior), accompanied by Felix (senior) on the piano and Eldric (junior) on the saxophone as well as people playing other instruments. The opening song was “Jesus Paid It All”.  Dorin Bacata welcomed everyone.  Say Say (freshman) had prayer and read the scripture reading.

Freddy (sophomore) read the mission story. Kelly (sophomore) and Ivana (sophomore) collected the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which helps students and staff go on mission trips. Ryan Kim played a piano solo for special music.  Esther Chun had the theme talk.

Following are some notes on the theme talk:

  1.  A Korean girl was adopted by an American couple living in Korea. She resented her adoption, feeling that her parents had deserted her.
  2. This American couple had found a baby under a bridge on a cold winter night in a snow storm. The baby was in a box and wrapped up in all sorts of clothes.  Next to the box was the frozen body of a young Korean woman.
  3. Love had transformed her into the girl she was.
  4. Love is revealed in sacrifice.
  5. We need to experience God’s love daily.

Kelly (sophomore) sang a vocal solo, accompanied by Eldric on the guitar. Dorin Bacata then announced that there would be two Sabbath School classes – one “behind the glass” with Warren McDaniels, the other in the sanctuary with Rodney Herra.
