Services in the Laurelbrook Seventh-day Adventist Church on June 15, 2019 began with a song service led by Gustavo and Daryen (seniors) and Eldric (junior), accompanied by two flutes, a trumpet, and four violins and on the piano by Jeremy Westcott. The opening song was “Faith of Our Fathers”. Brenda Herra welcomed everyone. Yuli (senior) had prayer and read the scripture reading – Genesis 2:24 “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”
Brenda Herra read a poem praising fathers since Father’s Day is close. Yzzynne (sophomore) talked about her father’s work in Philippines. He distributed literature to remote villages, accompanied by her mother. On one trip, her parents were taken hostage, but God delivered them. Yzzynne then called for the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which was collected by Holden (junior) and Gustavo (senior).
Brenda Herra had the theme talk on fathers. Each father present received a special bag of peanuts. Then Brenda Herra invited people to share memories about their fathers. She then read a poem about the role of a father in a home.
Brenda Herra then had the closing prayer and announced the classes. Students met behind the glass for their Sabbath School class. Ruan Swanepoel taught the student Sabbath School class. Scott Sterling taught the Sabbath School class in the church sanctuary.
