On October 12, 2019, Laurelbrook’s church services began with a Sabbath School program put on by the Laurelbrook Elementary School students. The song service was led by Gabby, Andrea, and Leilani (senior), accompanied on the piano by Michael.
The opening song was “Don’t Forget the Sabbath”. Desmond welcomed everyone. Gabby read the scripture reading – John 16:33 “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.”
Leilani had prayer. Isaac then read a mission story from Kenya about a series of public dialogues between Adventists and other religions. He called for the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which was collected by Filip and Levi. Isaac then prayed for the offering. Andrea played a flute solo, accompanied by Michael for special music.
Esther Chun then had the theme talk about gratefulness. She told the story of a husband and wife who were expecting a son. But the husband was dying. She was grateful for anything he could do. Likewise God is grateful for whatever we can do for Him in spite of our weaknesses and sins. Jesus had a woman who had been ill for 12 years touch Him and was healed. The Holy Spirit led Jesus and the woman to the moment of healing. God is thankful we come to Him for healing.
After her talk, Diego announced the classes. Rodney Herra taught the adult Sabbath School class in the main sanctuary, Sorina Voicu had a student class that in the rear of the sanctuary “behind the glass”, and Gerrie Varmaak taught a student class in the boys’ dorm lobby.
