The Sabbath services on July 7, 2018 began with a song service led by Mark (sophomore), Itzel (junior), and Jara (junior), accompanied by Leilani (junior) on the piano. The opening song was “Redeemed”.
Pierre Joubert welcomed everyone. Eric (senior) read the scripture reading – Psalm 107:1-2 “1 ¶ O give thanks unto the LORD, for [he is] good: for his mercy [endureth] for ever. 2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say [so], whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy;”
Pierre Joubert read the mission story from South Korea. A young lady had trouble with headaches so she searched for cures in various religions. She became a shaman and became possessed by 20 spirits. She was a success as a healer but had many aches and pains. Her husband and children left her, and she was involved in a perplexing accident. She turned her back on the spirits and took Bible studies from an Adventist pastor and was baptized.
Pierre Joubert then called for the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which was collected by Rich Sutton and John Ellis and which goes to support Laurelbrook mission trips. Jara played “Redeemed” as a flute solo, accompanied by Leilani on the piano. Then they asked the congregation to sing the last verse of “Redeemed” (original melody).
Pierre Joubert had the theme talk on “The Power of Testimony”. Pierre Joubert had the closing prayer and explained the classes. Clifton Brandt led the lesson study in the main sanctuary and Rich Sutton the class “behind the glass” in the rear of the church sanctuary.
Following are a few notes from Pierre Joubert’s presentation:
