The Sabbath services on February 2, 2019 began with a song service led by Kelly Ann and Yzzynne (9th graders) and Haydee (junior), accompanied by Jeremy Westcott on the piano. The opening song was “My Jesus I Love Thee”. David Smith welcomed everyone, had prayer, and read the scripture reading.
Jacqueline Miller read the mission story from Mozambique. One young man joined the military because he failed his classes. Soon he met a Seventh-day Adventist young man. He was transferred to the military police training school. At this posting, he saw a Bible on a nearby bunk. At the conclusion of his training, he was sent back to his unit. He tried first one group and then another, finally landing in a Seventh-day Adventist Bible study on tithing. Next Sabbath he walked nine miles to a Seventh-day Adventist church. After his military service, he joined the local police and then went door to door canvassing. Finally, he went to the local Adventist university.
He then called for the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which was collected by Jesse and Saul (juniors) and which goes to support Laurelbrook mission trips.
David Smith had the theme talk on “Love”, had the closing prayer, and announced the classes. James Brenneman led the lesson study in the main sanctuary, and Rich Sutton had a student class “behind the glass” in the rear of the church sanctuary.
