On October 19, 2019, Laurelbrook’s church services began with a Sabbath School program put on by Cheryl Orser. The song service was led by Heissel (senior) and Eldric (junior), accompanied on the piano by Beth Brandt.
The opening song was “Blessed Assurance”. Cheryl Orser welcomed everyone. Leilani (senior) had prayer and read the scripture readings:
- John 12:32 “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all [men] unto me.”
- Revelation 7:9 “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;”
Zipporah Akuma then read a mission story from South Korea about a colporteur who held meetings, speaking to interested listeners. The colporteur was nervous, but people listened carefully. Then the lamp lighting the meeting went out. The group prayed, and the Lord provided light from one drop of oil, giving additional power to the colporteur. For three more meetings that drop of oil provided light. At the close of the meetings, fifty people were baptized.
Ms. Akuma then called for the Laurelbrook Missions Offering, which was collected by Iram (senior) and Vincent (freshman). Maria sang a vocal solo for special music.
Cheryl Orser had the theme talk entitled “Ten Times the Power”. Following are some notes from her talk:
- Next Tuesday is the anniversary of Jesus going into the Most Holy Place on October 22, 1844. The Millerites were disappointed that Jesus didn’t come to earth to get His believers.
- We are the only church teaching the sanctuary message.
- God’s people should have their eyes fixed on the heavenly sanctuary.
- Jesus will come when the world hears the message. We have too few ministries preaching the gospel to the world. 61 countries with billions of people really need to hear the gospel.
- Matthew 24:14 “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.”
- Revelation 7:9 “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;”
- Acts 2 (outpouring of the Holy Spirit) says that God will pour out His Spirit on all flesh, causing wonders in the heavens and in the earth.
- Acts 2:41 “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added [unto them] about three thousand souls.”
- Ellen White says that the latter rain is coming with ten times the power of the former rain. Many will be converted at the last minute, surprising the church. Every city and town will be contacted by the Spirit as God takes the leadership of evangelism into His own hands.
- Not one person will be neglected or passed by. Revelation 7:9.
The congregation sang “Amazing Grace”. Cheryl Orser announced the classes. Clayton Brandt taught the adult Sabbath School class in the main sanctuary, Stephanie Roy-Lavallee had a student class in the nursing home, and Sergio Bellino taught a student class in the boys’ dorm lobby.
